Hydraulic Cylinders (Standard)

IPH manufactures standard hydraulic cylinders that conform to standards ISO 6020/1, 6020/2 and 6022. Additionally, we also offer economical, light duty series cylinders operating at 50-60 BAR pressure, widely used in the machine tool industry.

Lastly, with welded rear and threaded front cap, the mobile hydraulics segment cylinders are also part of our range.

See below for details of each category :

1. Cylinders as per standard ISO 6020/1  (rated 160 BAR):

ISO 6020/1 defines overall dimensions and mountings for Hydraulic cylinders rated to operate at 160 BAR, with welded flange construction (similar to mill duty type). Our 6020/1 series (IPH-160-HM), closely conforms to the ISO specs, and offers higher rigidity and better guide, as compared to Tie-rod cylinders. Installed with PTFE seals as standard, these cylinders find use in press applications, mill duty applications etc.

Due to the welded flange construction, manufacturing is very process intensive, and can lead to longer lead times. While we do keep some elements in stock, the delivery period is still dictated by the tube, which has to go through lengthy processes each time, such as roughing, step machining, ring welding, boring, honing, plating (where required), drilling and tapping. These processes cannot be conducted in parallel, and hence the cylinders in this category take longer to manufacture.

We do not take a 'shortcut' by directly welding the rings to pre-honed tubes, which induces ovality in the tube, and can be a major quality risk, even though it can be cost and time saving.

Average life cycle for our cylinders is 20-25 years, assuming periodic seal replacement is carried out.

2. Cylinders conforming to ISO 6020/2 (Compact Tie-Rod cylinders) :

ISO 6020/2 defines overall dimensions and mountings for compact Hydraulic Tie-rod cylinders rated to operate at 160 BAR. Our IPH 6020/2 series (IPH-160-HC), matches the ISO mounting dimensions, and is also suitable for interchangeability with various international cylinder brands. Fitted with PTFE piston seals as standard, these cylinders find use in general purpose applications, machine tools, light duty economical machinery etc.

Due to it's simple and compact design, this series gives the most cost-effective options, without any compromise on the quality or product life cycle.

Several mounting types, and seal options are also available, based on the application

ISO 6022 Cylinders 250 BAR

For applications requiring high tonnage, with extra heavy duty constructional requirements, the ISO 6022 series is the de facto choice. With an operating pressure range of 250 BAR, the cylinders can handle loads upto 200 tons without deviating from the standards.

Our implementation of the ISO 6022 series matches all the reference mounting dimensions, with small modifications in the other dimensions. With PTFE seals as standard, teflon backup for the static seals, and other special features, this series is the best option for any high pressure application

3. Cylinders conforming to ISO 6022 :

IPH MP Cylinders 50 BAR

Our medium series cylinders, also called medium pressure cylinders, are widely used in the automation industry, and in various SPMs. These cylinders operate at around 50-60 BAR, and are the workhorses of hundreds of CNC machine cross slides, feed mechanisms, workholding clamps etc. These are gradually being replaced by ISO 6020/2 cylinders, in the name of standardisation.

Bores upto 125 mm are commonly used. Stroke can be upto 1500 mm. For larger sizes, contact us

4. Medium series Hydraulic cylinders (IPH-50 series) :

50-60 bar cylinder

Being a legacy series, demand is relatively less, and lead time is expected to be longer, though these cylinders are simpler in design.

We use our own brand of seals in this series, and PTFE/PU seals are optional. This also results in economical pricing for the spare seal replacements, reducing maintenance costs.

Even in the current scenario, these cylinders can be used due to the relatively cheaper cost. Additionally, the extremely compact design allows designers to fit these cylinders into areas where other type of cylinders would be difficult to insert.

5. Mobile Hydraulic cylinders / Compact welded type (EM series) :

This category of cylinders are of rear welded, and front threaded type, regularly used in the earthmoving/mobile hydraulic systems, and similar applications. This series provides the advantage of extremely compact design, where needed, and where compactness is not needed, it provides designers the opportunity to add additional guides within the same center distance of a 6020/1 series cylinder.
